Achilles Utilities Vendor Database UVDB
Meridian assist vendor organisations in the utilities sector that are requested by client organisations to hold the Achilles UVDB accreditation which permits the opportunity to be included in procurement process. To achieve full accreditation:- An organisation will have its Management System reviewed by an external assessor.
- A site visit to live works will take place to witness compliance with the organisation's Management System and also Achilles UVDB templates..
- Scores the organisation has achieved for OH&S, Environment and Quality will be published on the Achilles UVDB portal.
Achilles Building Confidence
Meridian assist vendor organisations in the utilities sector that are requested by client organisations to hold the Achilles Building Confidence accreditation which permits the opportunity to be included in procurement process. To achieve full accreditation:
- An organisation will have its Management System reviewed by an external assessor.
- A site visit to live works will take place to witness compliance with the organisation's Management System and also Achilles Building Confidence.
- Scores the organisation has achieved for OH&S, Environment and Quality will be published on the Achilles Building Confidence portal.
ISO Accreditation
Meridian provides the following support to organisations requiring their Management Systems to be accredited to the ISO Standards in 9001:2015, 14001: 2015, 45001:2018.
- Gap analysis to identify the current management systems compliance and organisations readiness to implement the standards.
- Establish documentation, policies and procedures necessary to support the Organisation in its transition.
- Assist with the implementation of the Management System and coordination of activities e.g. Internal Audit.
RiSQS
The Rail Industry Safety Quality System (RiSQS) is an accreditation required by organisations working in the rail sector for Network Rail and London Underground as well as other Regional Rail Operators.
RiSQS can be obtained through organisations such as the Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) and Meridian can provide support to your organisation with:
- Developing a Management System that complies with the published Network Rail standards.
- The review of your Management System by an external assessor.

Meridian can provide individuals to act as an Expert Witness who, as a specialist in an area, often technical, can present their expert opinion without having been a witness to any occurrence relating to the case.- Detailed understanding of the expectations required by external accrediting bodies.

Expert Witness
MA can provide persons to act as expert witness who as specialist in a subject, often technical, to present his/her expert opinion without having been a witness to any occurrence relating to the case.
- Regrettably in some cases the works do not always proceed in accordance with the expectation of the parties and a legal dispute may be the outcome.
- The expert witness can be appointed to assist the legal process and both parties involved (plaintiff and defendant) in detailing the approaches that should have been taken and what would have been the optimum solution.
- The Independent Connections Process where clients have approached the supply authority for a new connection is one area where we have successfully provided this service.
Occupational H&S Competent Advisor
Meridian provide support to organisations that may need assistance for a project or seek to conduct a compliance audit on the effectiveness of its Occupational Health & Safety Management System.
- We provide competent advice to organisations that do not have a full time OH&S professional to allow them to meet their legal requirements.
- We support organisations in the review and development of their existing OH&S Management Systems.
- We provide assistance in accident investigations, producing a comprehensive report, conclusion and recommendations.
Third Party Damage Investigation – Utilities
Circumstances where damage has occurred to utility apparatus and is reported at the time or discovered later when the works are complete is an expensive and time consuming process for:
- The defendant who is seeking to provide appropriate information to demonstrate the damage did not involve them and/or claim .
- The asset owner who will face the consequences of repairing the asset and then seek recompense through damages from the body it believes is responsible.
- Meridian can act for either party to research and identify strategies and plans to support their claim.
